Section 3
After you watch the movie!
Now let’s try to answer some questions!
1. Why do Jake and Neytiri leave their clan?
They decided to abandon the humans since all they know is chaos and violence.
Neytiri was tired of living on the beach, so it wasn’t that hard.
Although it was a hard decision, it is to protect the clan and their kids.
Correct. Jake convinces her that it is best for their children and the rest of the clan.
2. Which option DOESN’T explain why the Metkayina are reluctant to accept Jake and his family?
They aren’t fond of Jake and his kids’ half-human heritage.
They don’t want to potentially bring war to their land.
They know that Jake and his family won’t connect well to the Tsurak – a vital part to survive in the archipelago.
That’s it. The moment Jake gets there, the Metkayina still don’t know about the struggle to control the Skimwings, so, it couldn’t be used as an argument to reject the newcomers.
3. Which option would closest in meaning to the sentence “I see you”?
“I perceive your physical presence that’s important to me.”
“I have you in my sight and I respect you for that.”
“I acknowledge and respect you as a special creature.”
Good job! This sentence is much deeper than what the eyes see. It’s about feeling and understanding.
4. Why are humans hunting the Tulkun?
They believe that the Tulkun are the secret for humanity to thrive in Pandora.
They would like to sell the skin of the Tulkun.;
The humans are interested in producing anti-aging remedies.
Nice! The humans are simply after the profit that can be done with the substance.
5. Why do Lo’ak and Payakan have such a strong connection?
Both come from families who ignore them.
Both tend to be stubborn whenever it comes to obeying their mother’s orders.
Both can be seen as the outcasts.
Great job! Lo’ak also feels like an outcast among his family, like Payakan is an outcast for the other Tulkun.
6. Why is the movie possibly called “The way of the water?”
Because it is a clear reference to how valuable Pandora’s oceans are for the humans.
It shows how the ocean itself can come to life to always protect its creatures from predators.
It shows how strong the connection, tradition, and feelings the sea and the Na’vi can have.
Nicely done! It’s very likely that the title refers to how the Na’vi and the ocean bond.
